Random Things

Here is probably more information about me than you ever wanted to know.  Some quirky, some serious, some just for fun.  Just remember, I didn’t promise it would all be interesting. 

  1. By God’s grace, He drew me to himself at the age of 3 through a presentation of the Wordless Book.  I am so grateful that I have had almost my entire life to love and serve my Lord!!
  2. My greatest desire is to have a quiet heart before God…To be obedient to His Word, and content in whatever roles, responsibilities, blessings, and trials that He, in His infinite wisdom, sees fit to give me…
  3. Until (very) recently, I lived in the same city my entire life.
  4. I am a native California Girl.
  5. But, I hate the beach.
  6. I do not wear shorts.
  7. This really bothers some people.
  8. I don’t know why.
  9. And, recently I have started wearing skirts much more frequently.
  10. I kind of like it.
  11. I’m sure people will find this strange as well.
  12. In case you haven’t noticed yet, I don’t mind being a little odd.
  13. Fall is my favorite season.
  14. But, sadly, I’ve never lived in a place that truly experiences it…
  15. My dream vacation is to travel to New England to see the leaves change!
  16. Chicago is one of my favorite cities.
  17. I collect frogs.
  18. I started the collection after a frog was our (green) team mascot at camp one year.
  19. Oprah really scares me.
  20. I am truly a homebody.
  21. I only leave my house when I absolutely have to…sometimes not even then.
  22. My favorite colors are red and brown.
  23. I will not watch extremely popular movies, simply because they are popular.
  24. I used to think homeschoolers were weird, and said I would never “do that” to my children….
  25. Now, I am homeschooling my daughter – and I love it!
  26. I always wanted to be a pastor’s wife! (And now I am!)
  27. Although I only have one child, I consider myself to be “quiverfull.”
  28. I would love to have more children someday (soon!).
  29. I have always wanted to adopt children from another country (specifically eastern Europe, China, Africa…or all of the above).
  30. My little sister is taller than me…by several inches.
  31. I used to think this was unfair.
  32. Rainy days make me happier than sunny days.
  33. The sun and I do not get along.  I burn.  Badly.
  34. I still enjoy watching Disney cartoons…and I love watching them with my daughter.
  35. I want to write a book.
  36. I love to study the Bible, and have a passion to see women grow in their desire to study, understand, and obey it!
  37. I do not like feet.
  38. I rarely paint my fingernails, but I feel naked if my toenails are not painted.
  39. I love hockey…especially the fights.
  40. Most people say that I am too serious or overly-analytical. I take that as a compliment.
  41. People who don’t know me think I’m quiet.  People who do, wish I was.
  42. I am afraid of the dark.
  43. For a very short time, I played the accordion.
  44. I only like frosting from a can – I do not like the real/homemade stuff.
  45. I love Italian food.
  46. But, I don’t like spaghetti…I don’t like the long noodles.
  47. I love to iron.
  48. I also like to mop.
  49. I love “fun” socks (the kinds with fun patterns, stripes, colors).
  50. I also love flip flops and own more pairs than is healthy…but I justify it because I live in the desert.
  51. Ventriloquist dummies freak me out.
  52. I can roll my tongue into a clover leaf.
  53. I danced in chapel during the Year End Show my senior year of college.
  54. I was a cheerleader in high school.
  55. Not only was I a cheerleader, I was captain of the team for 2 years.
  56. I have a 5-year-old who is dying to learn Spanish.
  57. I took Spanish for 3 years in high school…Sadly, I remember very little.
  58. I have always wanted to learn Russian.
  59. When I was little, I wanted to smuggle Bibles into Russia, and other Iron Curtain countries.
  60. I went to Romania on a mission trip after high school. 
  61. I did not have to smuggle Bibles.
  62. I like country music.
  63. I think I want to live in the country.
  64. But, I still want to be within (reasonable) driving distance of a Starbucks and Target.
  65. I wish I had a garden.
  66. I think I am addicted to coffee…very, very addicted.
  67. I wish I liked tea…but I can’t stand it.
  68. My favorite ride at Disneyland is Small World
  69. And, I actually like love the song!! 
  70. I prefer Coke over Pepsi.
  71. I was a very messy child/teenager.
  72. Now, I thrive on structure and organization.
  73. As a child, I had a recurring nightmare that I was being chased by a mountain lion until I ended up falling off the edge of the Grand Canyon.
  74. I blame Walt Disney for this.
  75. However, I love Disneyland.
  76. To sleep, I must tuck the covers under me, and put my pillow over my head.
  77. I have been a night owl from the womb.
  78. I often wish I could be a morning person.
  79. My husband and I have very different versions of how/when we met.
  80. I have been to all (2) of the Summer Olympic Games held in the USA, in my lifetime.  (Los Angeles in 1984, and Atlanta 1996)
  81. I have been whitewater rafting.
  82. I took biblical Greek for fun…after college.
  83. I’d love to take biblical Hebrew someday.
  84. My major in college was Christian Education.
  85. I once spoke from the pulpit at Grace Community Church.
  86. Before becoming a mommy, my favorite job was being the Administrative Assistant to the Bible Profs at The Master’s College.
  87. And, that is saying a lot, because I also worked at a drive-thru coffee shop in college.
  88. That is where my addiction to coffee began.
  89. I love the show “18 19 Kids and Counting…”
  90. I do not like it when television shows do not end properly…Like when the 2 main characters do not end up together…like they are supposed to.  It ruins the entire show. 
  91. I can never watch The Wonder Years again.
  92. I love “cozy clothes” (sweaters, tights, long skirts).
  93. I think that Capri pants are wonderful.  I will cry if they ever stop making them.
  94. The crock pot is my favorite kitchen appliance – well, second to my coffee pot.
  95. I am a germaphobe.
