Hannah Elisabeth, Traditions & Celebrations

Happy 2nd Birthday Hannah!

I never thought that 2 years could pass so quickly!  It does not seem possible that 2 years ago we were sitting in a hospital room, meeting our precious daughter for the first time…

It seems like she has always been a part of our life…  Recently, I have found myself trying to remember what my life was like before she came into the picture…I can’t!

The chorus of a country song (Somebody’s Hero), by Jamie O’Neal says,

“She’s somebody’s hero
A hero to her baby with a skinned up knee
A little kiss is all she needs
The keeper of the Cheerios
The voice that brings Snow White to life
Bedtime stories every night
And that smile lets her know
She’s somebody’s hero”

I love the picture this song paints…I just had to smile when I heard it.  I have become “the keeper of the Cheerios.”  Actually, these days the cereal/snack of choice is Kix.  And my days are now filled with puzzles, legos, Mickey Mouse and Little Einsteins, “dancing” to any and all music (commercial jingles, TV theme songs, CDs…), Band-Aids (for all the little bumps and scrapes of toddler-hood), crayons, stories (bedtime or anytime!), and “playing bubbles” outside…

This last year has, without a doubt, been exhausting as I try to keep up with a growing, constantly changing little girl.  But…being Hannah’s mom is the best “job” ever!  She is a precious gift from God, and continues to be a constant joy…I am still humbled each day at the amazing opportunity and responsibility that I have been given - to teach her, care for her, pray for her, correct her, comfort her, and love her.  I pray each day that the Lord would continue to soften her heart, and draw her towards Himself.

Happy Birthday, my sweet girl!!  I can’t wait to see what new adventures this next year holds…
