I got this recipe from my friend, Amy. (And, I may have to hold her personally responsible for any extra weight I gain during this pregnancy! 😉 )
As a general rule, we don’t eat a lot of sweets around here… But, we do like the occasional treat.  And, these are a perfect fit! They are easy, quick to put together, and all of the ingredients were already in my pantry!
Ingredients:
1 stick butter
1 cup brown sugar
½ tsp vanilla
1 cup self rising flour (or regular flour plus 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder and ½ teaspoon salt)
1 egg
¾ cup nuts, chopped
½ cup chocolate chips
Directions:
Melt butter with brown sugar in a pan on the stove. Remove from heat.
Add flour, eggs, and nuts.
Pour into 8X8 baking dish.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Notes:
The original recipe was double what you see above. I cut it in half for our little family… (Otherwise, I really will weigh 800 pounds by the time baby arrives!!) If you have a bigger family than I do, or if this is for company, or a larger gathering, you’ll probably want to double the amounts above.
I added the chocolate chips while the butter/flour/brown sugar mixture was still relatively warm, which created more of a chocolate swirl, rather than individual chocolate pieces.

Oh wow, these look really good! And I actually have all the stuff to make it!
These look divine!
Funny. I just so happen to have all the ingredients. What to do, what to do…
Definitely printing this out! Thanks!
Wow! These look so good. Bad thing is I have everything to make them right now. 😉 I can feel the weight creeping on as I think about whether I will make these today or not. LOL!
I made this today, and boy, are you in trouble.
They are dangerous!! (But soooo good!!)
