Hannah Elisabeth

19 Month Check-Up

Hannah had her 18-month “well baby” check-up today.  And, yes, she is 19-months-old.  Her 15-month check-up was 2 weeks late, because her doctor was on vacation.  That should have pushed her 18-month visit back by only 2 weeks, but her nasty little cold hit, so we opted to wait until she was fully recovered.

The good news is that her ducky is quite healthy!  This is why I love her pediatrician.  It may be a ridiculously long drive, to Glendale, during rush hour…  But, any doctor who will patiently examine a stuffed duck (eyes, non-existant ears, and heartbeat) in order to put a child at ease is well worth the drive!

PB060662.JPGAt 19-months Hannah weighs in at a whopping (note the sarcasm) 21 pounds, putting her just above the 10th percentile. That is less than 1 pound since her last appointment, over 4 months ago!  As long as she doesn’t fall below the 10th percentile in weight, the doctor said he didn’t see any reasons to worry.  However, what she lacks in weight she continues to make up for in height.  She is now 34 inches long/tall (a 3 inch jump from last time!), which puts her right around the 97th percentile!

He is still a little worried about the low iron levels from her last blood-test.  So, she is back on an iron supplement/multivitamin for the next few weeks, and then it’s back to the doctor for more blood work next month to see if anything has changed.  But, since it doesn’t seem to be impacting her energy level at all, he isn’t overly-concerned.

So, another good report.  I don’t ever want to take these good reports lightly.  I feel incredibly blessed to have a strong, healthy, growing little girl.
