Hannah Elisabeth, Life, Mommyhood

Mommy’s Little Helper

I don’t even know where to start…I feel like and update is in order, since I’ve had a potty-training post at the top of the blog for the better part of 2 weeks!  But, I also feel like that is somewhat appropriate, since that basically sums up our life, well, mine and Hannah’s anyway, over that time!

We have been working extremely hard, and Hannah has done extremely well.  Since my last post, I think I can now say with some confidence that she is potty-trained.  I wasn’t going for perfection, just consistency.  There have been a few accidents, but that is to be expected…and to her credit, most of them have been on the way to the potty – we just didn’t get there in time!

I did not expect one of the “side-effects” of potty-training to be a dramatic change in Hannah’s napping habits!  (These are the things the books don’t tell you!!)  She went from a solid 2 ½ – 3 hour nap to nothing.  No nap – no warning!  (Looking back, the extent of her physical activity was running back and forth between the living room and the bathroom!  So, I guess that is somewhat understandable!)  But, she was consistently in a great mood, so I enjoyed having her company!  But, that also meant that my normal household chores were somewhat limited to jobs that could be dropped at a moment’s notice for a quick dash to the Elmo-potty!  So, I put off some chores until after she was in bed for the night…but, by that time I did not feel like doing anything but collapsing in bed myself!!

So, although I had been promising Jason some (homemade) chocolate chip cookies for about a week, he didn’t get any until Sunday afternoon!  Of course, it was much easier (and much more fun!) with my adorable little helper!

Hannah cracked an egg by herself (and most of it made it into the bowl…including some of the shell!), helped me measure flour and sugar, and then helped with the most important job of all…
